Uzor Arukwe, born on August 6, 1983, in Imo State, Nigeria, has become one of Nollywood’s most talented and versatile actors. His journey to stardom wasn’t a straight path, but his passion, hard work, and determination have made him a household name.
Growing up, Uzor attended the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He was a bright student and went on to study Economics, earning both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in the field. He later added a Master’s degree in Business Administration to his qualifications. With such an impressive academic background, it seemed like his future was set in the corporate world. But deep down, Uzor had a different dream.
His first appearance in Nollywood came in 2014 when he starred in Unspoken Truth. At the time, it was just another opportunity, but he soon realized that acting was what truly made him happy. He gained recognition in 2017 with his role as Inspector Sam in Sergeant Tutu. That performance opened doors for him, and before long, he was getting more roles.
In 2019, he played a private investigator in Code Wilo, and that film became a turning point in his career. It showed just how talented he was, and people started paying attention. Uzor also proved he could do comedy, earning two nominations for ‘Best Actor in a Comedy’ at the 2020 African Magic Viewers' Choice Awards for Smash and Size 12. In 2021, he was nominated for ‘Best Actor’ at the Best of Nollywood Awards for Yours Regardless.
